As a School Bus Driver you are not like Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason), the lead character who drove a bus on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan in a 1950s TV show ‘The Honeymooners’.
Driving a school bus does not have the same rules.
As a School Bus Driver you carry the most precious cargo of any family in your special vehicles. A school bus. You have more to consider than just keeping out of accidents in traffic. The children must rely on your vehicle to get them to and from school. For sports team or bands, trips can mean riding for hours. And if you add field trips being frequently included in a school day, it has to be true that the more time spent carrying students on a school bus, the greater the odds for an accident.
Yet becoming a School Bus Driver is one of the best services that can be provided for those that are going to school to receive a complete education.
Now that being said let’s have some fun. With this site let us enjoy the life we have chosen to do by helping entertain each other.
I have made this site to help us enjoy the drive into the dawn as we make our routes on schedule.
I hope you will join me by sharing your:
Bus Pictures: Seasonal decorations and such of you and your bus as we look inside of your “home away from home”. (do not include any children unless they are your own please for legal reasons)
Driver Videos: Little tricks you have to handling a problem your bus has that might happen to other drivers.
Driver Recipes: Easy and quick meal ideas are the best for we often get home late and need all the different ones we can get as a change of pace. And I will not kick out the sweet ones.
Driving Tips: The best way you have to handle a problem not covered in driver training.
All this is of course for other School Bus Drivers to learn from.
BUT…
… do not forget the STORIES. The funny stories the we all have and want to share. NOT the real bad ones but the pranks, student funnies, driver funnies, driver did to driver (ha ha type, not mean) little kid said, etc… Told on video will be the best but if not written or even better if you send me a phone number in an E-Mail and the best time to call I will call you as soon as I can to hear you tell it to me and get it on the site.
Send then to: Brother Beno here
Please only send fun things. There are enough other places you can send the other comments to.
Hope to hear from you soon,
BrotherBeno, Independence, MO, Independence School District #30

shirley richards
hello,
i am a school bus driver in santa fe texas. i was looking for school buses that had been decorated for christmas parades to get an idea from ,for ours, and i saw this. i have been driving only for 3 years and absolutely love my job. i will be 61 in a week and my only regret is i didnt do this 30 yrs ago but didnt know i could ever drive a bus. i have 2nd thru 4th on one route, then 5th thru 8th on jr.high route. last year the pre-k thru 1st grade driver was out and i doubled the last 4 months till school was out. i had pre-k thru 4th on my lil kid route. i needed help making the lil monkeys stay seated. the 4 year olds were bouncing off the walls. so i made all my 4th graders ‘MONKEY BUSTERS”. they would each have 2 of the pre-k kids in the seat with them and thay were responsible for keeping them in the seat and make sure they didnt get in the aisles. my MONKEY BUSTERS got extra things on fridays. i always bring treats on fridays but MONKEY BUSTERS would maybe get a beanie baby or pencil. i ordered 300 mcdonalds beanie babys from ebay. i ordered pencils from oriental trading .com and i get magnets and keychains. i love my kids, love my job and the greatest reward is that kids i had 2 years ago still come see me to get treats on fridays. i always told them when they’d miss behave and get mad at me that one day theyre going to miss me, and they do !!
last year at xmas i bought those lil round pretzels. i put candy kiss in middle. put it in oven about 350 degrees till choc looks like its just starting to get soft, then pull them out of oven. i had cookie sheet full. then you take an M&M and push it in the kiss till you touch the pretzel. these will be reindeer belly buttons! my kids loved it.
before i started to drive school bus ,i was a custodian. one year i made dustpan cookies for all the teachers. i bought 30 dustpans . i bought the dollar boxes of christmas cookies. i put some cookies in a baggy and before i closed it i crushed one cookie and sprinkled it in with the other ones then used a decorative ribbhon and tied the baggy to the handle of dustpasn. then i made a tag that said
I was bringing you christmas cookies,
But as i was going out the door,
My wiener dog tripped me,
And i dropped them on the floor.
So i used this little dust pan
And swept them up good as i could,
I brushed all the dirt and hair off,
Gosh,i hope that theyre still good !
everyone says, shirley you missed your calling! i guess so but i think ive found it inthe SFISD school district!
